This is one of the most asked question that Newborn Photographers come across.
So, how long does a newborn photo shoot last?
On average, a newborn photo shoot can take between two and 3 hours, depending on how the baby settles. It will also link to the years of experience your photographer has. New, cheaper photographers can take longer.
There are many other factors that can also impact the duration of the session.
When you arrive at our studio for your Newborn Session, I take over your baby and will take care of them from start to finish, be it changing their nappy, or bottle feeding them or putting them to sleep. So even though the session might be a bit long, at Sparkles Photography we expect parents to do the least amount of worrying while they are at our studio and to just sit back and enjoy the session.
But to help me make the session run smoothly, here are some tips to come prepared for your newborn session:
Bring a bottle along with you. If baby is only breast fed, try to pump 2 bottles prior to your session. However, this is not a compulsion. If you prefer to feed them directly, you are more than welcome to.
Pack a pacifier, even if you do not intend to continue it after the session. It helps soothe the baby during posing as I will be very hands on. A pacifier can make or break a session so I highly recommend you bring one along.
Don't forget to pack nappies and wipes.
If you have older kids coming along, kindly bring activities to keep them entertained during the newborn session.
No other plans on session day. Reserve that day for the photo shoot only, don’t let anything distract you from your baby’s photography process. You will also need a good rest after the session so allocate the rest of the day on catching up on some sleep since your baby will be tired as well.
Last but not the least, bring your positive vibes along, so you can experience a memorable studio session with us!
Hope this article helps answer your questions. Come prepared and you will inevitable enjoy the process and take away life long memories with you from the newborn photo shoot.
